Gates says U.S. not planning for war with Iran

WASHINGTON - The United States is not planning for a war with Iran and instead is trying to stop them from contributing to the violence in Iraq, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said on Friday.

"The President has made clear, the Secretary of State has made clear, I've made clear ... we are not planning for a war with Iran," he told reporters.

However, attentive readers may recall that our government did not plan for the war in Iraq, either.

Very, very safe bet with this administration, when they sayanything, the opposite is true. Have they ever NOT lied to us? Are they sad, unfortunate congenital liars or are they simply evil men working for Sata ??? Ha, ha!

Of course one could argue that there was never much of a "plan" for the war in Iraq, judging by all the progress we've seen there. I am just finishing Thomas Rick's (must read) book "Fiasco" and the documented episodes of utter incompetence never cease to amaze.

I remember Condi Rice saying before Iraq "There's no plan for war with Iraq on my desk. I haven't seen any plan. Of course the military is always planning for all sorts of things that may or may not ever happen and all options are on the table... but there's no plan on my desk."

This time I don't think they have plans to go to war with Iran. They have plans for Iran to go to war with us, right? Then we'll just have no choice but to retaliate, right? Of course we won't invade Iran though because just look at what invading Iraq has lead to. We'll just bomb the hell out of 'em and hope for the best. It's all a part of God's Plan, you see.

I expect the "retaliation" will start with some small bombings, followed by much larger bombings and maybe some "little" nukes just to show them thar Irani-o-fascists what they're not allowed to have. And then peace and joy will break out all around the middle east and everyone will live happily ever after. Candy and flowers & stuff.

Just imagine if oh, I don't know - someone bombed one of our bases in Iraq with advanced weapons (that would have to have come from Iran because there's no proof that they didn't) near the Iranian border and killed hundreds of soldiers. Or maybe, as in John's Armageddon story, one of our ships got sunk somewhere near Iran. Dubya would give the grandest speech evvva' to the world about how Iran has declared war on us and that we will retaliate in kind... because we must! Even if Iran denies it, who's gonna believe them, anyway? They have no credibility because they're always lying about their war adventures, right?

With our fleet in the gulf, Bush is not planning for war. He's setting up the fleet as bait. I'm not as stupid as I look.

Oh yeah? I guess the '3' carrier task groups, with a '4th' one coming to join them shortly, and the deployment of the core of the 82nd Airborne to the region, on 'emergency' orders, is just for another MISSION ACCOMPLISHED photo op for the illegitimate turd who squats at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, without having been elected?

give me a break! Everyone knows that our own military will attack and sink one of our carriers, so that they'll have the 'causus belli'
to go into Iran with nuclear weapons and kill tens of thousands of innocent Iranians, using concocted, bullshit pretenses and lies to do it.

Bob Gates is another 'inveterate' liar of really incredible balls to float this; "oh, we're not going to attack IRAN.." bullshit.

too bad the DINOCRATS we all felt so warm and fuzzy about electing this last november won't do a f'ing thing to stop this s.o.b. from attacking another sovereign country that poses no threat to the U.S., has no weapons of mass destruction, but is sitting on huge OIL RESERVES.
